Safety Manager

About the role

The Safety Manager oversees and manages all aspects of the safety program on complex construction projects. They conduct workplace safety checks, give direction to onsite construction staff, and participate in various safety committees and meetings. Responsibilities include communicating with clients, administering drug and alcohol tests, maintaining first aid supplies, and presenting safety emphasis to site employees.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the safety program on complex construction projects
• Conduct workplace safety checks and give Stop Work Authority when necessary
• Provide safety leadership and participate in safety committees
• Communicate with clients and participate in safety meetings
• Administer drug and alcohol tests and maintain first aid supplies
• Present safety emphasis to site employees
• Participate in and lead emergency responses

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of construction safety management experience
• A high school diploma or GED
• CHST preferred

Qualifications

• Knowledgeable of MIC Health and Safety programs and project specific regulations
• Knowledge of MSHA/OSHA regulations and hazard recognition
• Functional computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment
• Ability to evaluate information based on measurable standards
• Ability to visualize objects in three dimensions

Pay

$95,000 - $110,000 / year, commensurate with experience

Schedule

Up to 90% travel, 8-18 months on average per project
