About the role
We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to join our team at Adolfson & Peterson Construction. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe environment for all employees.
Responsibilities
- Manage the safety program on assigned projects in accordance with organization wide requirements and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with policies and practices that result in employee behavior that reinforces AP senior management’s commitment to IIF.
- Conduct the safety training program in accordance with all organizational standards, practices and policies.
- Manage task-based training for all workers on AP jobsites.
- Provide Safety and Health training to all AP management and supervisory personnel.
- Distribute new and changing safety related information and provide training when necessary.
- Present the safety orientation program to new employees.
- Assist with furthering the safety education of all team members whether by formal classes, seminars, workshops, or sharing information.
- Maintain relationships with federal and/or state OSHA programs.
- Assistance in managing the worker’s compensation program for the region.
- Participate in quarterly claims reviews.
- Help investigate accidents.
- Monitor the return-to-work process for injured employees to minimize the impact of an injured worker returning to a jobsite.
- Identify light duty and other work that injured workers can perform.
- Collaborate with and assist all project team members to sustain the IIF philosophy.
- Edit and keep the SDS reference books and Superintendent’s Health and Safety Manuals current.
- Anticipate project safety needs and assist the Superintendent/Project Manager with required safety training.
- Monitor site safety communication to maintain training effectiveness (signage, toolbox meetings, etc.).
- Assure that adequate, properly trained personnel are available to carry out the required functions safely on a project.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- History of experience and proven results including:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Safety, Safety Management, or related field plus 6 – 8 years directly related experience in field and office safety and health program management.
- Construction industry experience preferred.
- Experience working through inspections and audits with state and local government agencies.
- Knowledge of state and federal safety laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of dust control and storm water management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
- Experience conducting safety training's.
- Currently possess or able to obtain OSHA 500 Trainer Card for the construction industry.
- Ability to travel.
- Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards.
- Developed skills (written, oral, and listening) in order to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.
- Ability to efficiently manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously under time constraints.
- Ability to drive to the core of complex issues and provide insightful and constructive feedback.
Pay
$87,000.00 - $140,000.00
