Key Responsibilities
- Develop plans to ensure control of EMR and incident management.
- Implement, monitor, and continuously improve the company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management system.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments at hydrovac and field operation sites.
- Identify potential hazards related to hydrovac operations (e.g., high-pressure water, underground utilities, confined spaces, and vacuum equipment).
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action planning.
- Deliver safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing employee training.
- Maintain and update safety documentation, including SWPs (Safe Work Procedures), JSAs (Job Safety Analyses), and SDS (Safety Data Sheets).
- Ensure compliance with all OSHA and DOT regulations by maintaining current safety programs, policies, driver qualification files, training records, and regulatory documentation.
- Support management in developing and implementing safety performance metrics and goals.
- Promote a positive safety culture through engagement, communication, and proactive hazard reporting.
- Coincide with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies regarding safety requirements and inspections.
- Participate in emergency response planning and drills.
Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field. Certification COR, NCSO, or CRSP (or working toward) preferred.
- First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, and H2S Alive certifications preferred.
- Confined Space Entry and Ground Disturbance Level II certifications are strong assets.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in health and safety, preferably in the hydrovac, oil & gas, or construction industries. Proven knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety management systems.
