Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop Safety professionals, fostering a strong culture of engagement and continuous improvement.
- Interpret, communicate, and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, regulatory guidance, and industry best practices.
- Develop, implement, and continuously enhance safety management systems, policies, standards, and procedures.
- Lead and oversee incident investigations, identify root causes, and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Analyze injury, incident, near miss, and inspection data to identify trends, mitigate systemic risks, and drive continuous improvements.
- Partner with operations and cross-functional teams to proactively conduct risk assessments, identify workplace hazards, and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.
- Manage and enhance the Industrial Hygiene program through assessments, workplace monitoring, and evaluations.
- Develop and oversee safety training programs that build employee capability and reinforce safe work practices.
- Monitor, analyze, and report key safety performance metrics, providing actionable insights and recommendations to leadership.
- Support Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) initiatives and lead improvement efforts.
Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field required.
- 7+ years of progressive safety experience in manufacturing, shipbuilding, heavy industrial, construction, or related environments required.
- Prior leadership experience managing direct report employees required.
- Previous experience leading and developing company-wide safety programs across multiple locations required.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and maritime industry safety practices.
- Experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments, and safety audits.
- Professional certifications (CSP, ASP, CIH or similar) preferred.
