Responsibilities
- Support and execute a proactive site safety strategy that promotes a healthy, safe, and efficient work environment while ensuring operational continuity.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of the organization’s safety vision by continuously improving existing programs and supporting the implementation of new safety initiatives.
- Foster and sustain a strong safety culture by championing corporate safety objectives, influencing safe behaviors, and driving the adoption of best practices across the organization.
- Lead and coordinate site safety programs, recommending and implementing initiatives designed to reduce workplace injuries, improve employee well-being, and minimize organizational risk.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs through audits, inspections, site assessments, and routine facility walkthroughs to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
- Inspect equipment, work areas, and operating conditions to identify hazards and maintain OSHA records, documentation, and compliance files.
- Conduct regular reviews of plant operations to ensure permits, processes, and equipment remain compliant with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
- Identify potential safety or regulatory violations and recommend corrective actions to address deficiencies and mitigate risks.
- Analyze incident and injury data to identify trends, develop preventive measures, and improve overall workplace safety performance.
- Communicate updates to safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to key stakeholders, ensuring timely implementation and annual review of all health and safety programs.
- Perform safety inspections and procedural audits, exercising sound judgment and authority to implement immediate corrective actions when necessary.
- Review safety policies, procedures, incident reports, and related documentation, driving continuous improvement through root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
- Investigate workplace incidents and near misses, complete required reporting, and ensure accurate documentation within corporate risk management and safety systems.
- Develop and deliver training related to corrective actions, safety procedures, and compliance requirements to ensure employee understanding and accountability.
- Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and local occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as proposed legislative changes, to ensure ongoing compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 3+ years’ experience in safety and sustainability management
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, OSHA hazard communications, accident investigation, and safety training methods
- Good understanding of 5s Principles and application thereof
- Good understanding of Gemba Walk Principles and Applications
- Knowledge of industry best practices
- Proficient in MS Office
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Business Partners
