About the role
This non-sworn position provides additional levels of safety for Sinclair College at the Dayton, Centerville, and Mason campus locations. Part-time Safety Information Officer (SIO) employees are strategically assigned throughout the College campus to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for students, faculty, and staff. SIOs may be assigned to any building within the Sinclair Community College campuses, including the Library. SIOs are responsible for reporting any safety issues either observed by, or reported to them, and will interact with all levels of the College to assist in creating a safe environment for employees and students alike.
Responsibilities
- Provide safety for all campus buildings as directed
- Ensure safety in parking areas
- Assist in opening and closing the campus
- Respond to calls from the dispatcher when necessary
- Provide escorts for students and employees in non-violent situations
- Write parking warning tickets in parking areas
- Direct traffic into and out of parking areas
- Provide jump-starting service
- Provide lockout service
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
- Good physical condition
- Ability to walk at least 50 minutes every hour
- Ability to stand for 50 minutes every hour, not more than five hours
- Ability to work outside in any weather conditions for four or more hours
- Ability to use both upper and lower limbs
- Good hearing and vision abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally with the public
- Demonstrated proficiency in clear and effective radio communication
- Basic computer skills (training may be self-taught or completed in a classroom setting)
- Strong team-building and collaboration skills
