Safety & Health Manager

About the Role

Leads and coordinates all safety and health-related activities for the Wilson, NC facility. Develops and implements a comprehensive safety management system, including providing leadership and support for the line-driven behavior-based safety process. Continuously monitors safety systems for improvement opportunities and leads the Safety team.

Responsibilities

• Manages experienced professionals who exercise independent discretion and/or a functional area or process, with or without direct reports.
• Implements policy and strategy for short-term results and influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices, and procedures.
• Develops and implements policies and practices to identify and mitigate hazardous workplace conditions.
• Identifies potential workplace hazards, unsafe equipment, work practices, and working conditions.
• Investigates accidents and liaises with engineers, management, and regulatory authorities to identify causes and prevent recurrence.
• Provides advice and training on safety protocols and conducts audits to ensure compliance with organizational and government standards.
• Maintains and analyzes records of workplace injuries, illness, and absences to identify areas of concern and meet regulatory requirements.
• Communicates with executive leadership and supports relationships through strong communication and negotiation with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, including 3–5 years of management or direct/indirect leadership experience.
• Or Master’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience, including 2–4 years of management or direct/indirect leadership experience.
