About the role

This is a mid-level project position accountable for implementing and maintaining the Company's Safety and Health Procedures on a larger, moderately complex project. Performs medium to high complexity tasks and may act as a supervisor to other safety and health professionals. Responsibilities

  • Implements, administers, and maintains the project Drug and Alcohol Substance Abuse Program.
  • Develops and conducts employee safety and health training programs.
  • Conducts detailed site safety and health inspections.
  • Manages project security contracts, programs, and policies.
  • Performs record keeping and filing functions.
  • Conducts incident and injury/illness investigations and writes detailed reports.
  • Completes all appropriate company safety and health program documents.
  • Interfaces with clients and government officials.
  • Manages construction contractor safety and health program administration.
  • Administers project worker's compensation programs and procedures.
  • May act as Safety and Health Consultant to internal and external clients.
  • May act as on-site first aid and medical provider.
  • Provides supervision, training, development, and performance management of direct reports.
  • Supports continuous improvement efforts and change management.
  • Supervises Safety and Health Intern, Safety and Health Specialist 1, 2, and 3.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of safety and health experience.
  • Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (e.g., criminal/civil background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search).
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Safety and health certification or Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
  • 3+ years in a construction environment (preferred).

Skills

  • Knowledge of safety and health standards and practices.
  • Knowledge of company substance abuse policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of worker’s compensation policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of construction contracting strategies and contract administration.
  • Ability to perform first aid/medical functions.
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills.
  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Human relations and conflict management skills.
  • Ability to effectively interface with clients and government officials.

Certifications

  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Drug testing certified.
  • OSHA 500/501.
  • Safety and Health Program Administration.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • High travel role (up to 70%).
  • Lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move, and walk long distances in confined, cluttered, or uneven areas.
  • Work above 5 feet in height (e.g., climbing steel frameworks, stairs, ladders, scaffolds).
  • Work up to 12-hour shifts in varying temperature extremes and outdoor conditions (e.g., dust, wind, snow, rain).
  • Work in cramped spaces, awkward positions, and extreme lighting conditions (bright or low light).
  • Exposure to distracting or uncomfortable noise levels and hazardous equipment.
  • This position is considered safety-sensitive.

Pay

  • Colorado: $96,305–$160,655
  • Minnesota: $91,928–$153,353
