About the role

As the site Safety Health & Environmental (SH&E) Specialist, you are responsible for coordinating and executing safety, health, and environmental programs. In this position, you will interact with employees to ensure a culture of caring where each employee is accountable and responsible for SH&E conditions and behaviors. You will ensure compliance with regulations and company policies, routinely interact with employees on the site floor, and balance sophisticated assignments involving performance of daily audits and inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Champion and develop a culture where safety, health, and environment are ingrained as core values, with all employees believing zero incidents is achievable and actively engaged in safe work practices.
  • Actively participate on the Facility SH&E Team and other assigned teams.
  • Coach and develop operations line supervision to be effective SH&E coaches in their respective positions.
  • Analyze SH&E conditions and behaviors, recommending changes to continuously improve site SH&E performance to world-class levels.
  • Implement systems, procedures, and work practices to ensure an "audit-ready" state of compliance.
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures (SOPs) to ensure site compliance with company and regulatory agency policies, including federal, state, and local legislation.
  • Review, analyze, critique, and/or approve engineering design development reports, plans, and specifications for compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
  • Drive implementation of SH&E best-in-class programs, systems, and processes, including training and coaching to establish clear procedures on SH&E measures and precautions.
  • Lead key, effective, and sustainable implementation of Corporate, Division, and Site SH&E initiatives, strategies, programs, and procedures through hands-on leadership, coaching, and teamwork.
  • Manage Worker’s Compensation in partnership with Risk Management.
  • Understand safety risks associated with jobs site-wide and environmental aspects impacting the site, optimizing them for better performance.
  • Ensure thorough investigation of all incidents in coordination with Safety and Health Site leadership.
  • Provide expertise and participate in all SH&E incident investigations conducted by Site Leadership.
  • Administer training programs for safety accident prevention and protection, and support environmental management systems.
  • Drive excellence through active participation on the production floor to adopt a zero-tolerance mentality toward SH&E losses and eliminate losses through Nestlé Continuous Excellence.
  • Provide SH&E functional and technical expertise/mentorship as needed in all areas and initiatives of the function.
  • Partner with other key functions, including engineering, HR, Quality, Operations, and NCE, to deliver on goals and plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental and/or safety subject area or related fields, international equivalents, or significant experience in SH&E roles supporting a manufacturing or production environment in lieu of a degree.
  • A minimum of 1-5 years’ experience successfully coordinating Safety, Health, and Environmental sustainability activities in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with OSHA, DOT, EPA regulations, and local equivalents and their application to site operations.
  • Professional certifications in SH&E-related fields (e.g., CIH, NEBOSH Certificate, ASP, AEM) are beneficial.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and digital literacy skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build teams across all levels and functions of the site.
  • Capability to make well-informed decisions in both routine and emergency situations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to relate to diverse audiences.
  • Training and presentation skills, with the ability to develop mutual solutions to challenges.
  • Ability to work and lead in a team setting, living the Nestlé Leadership Principles and bringing them to life for others.
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to quickly learn site-relevant federal and state OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements.
  • Technical writing skills for policies, procedures, reference manuals, and training materials.
  • Digital literacy (Microsoft Office/Windows-based).
  • Strong reading and comprehension skills for legal and regulatory interpretation.
  • Initiative to lead continuous improvement efforts.

Pay

The approximate pay range for this position is $78,000.00 to $90,000.00. Final compensation may vary based on factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location.
