About the role

AECOM is seeking a Safety, Health & Environmental Manager for an onsite position based in Westchester County, NY. This role involves ensuring the implementation of AECOM’s Construction Manager’s (CM) EHS Management Plan (EHSMP) and Environmental Health and Safety Plan (EHASP), supervising onsite CM EHS staff, and collaborating with the client’s Operations team to manage SH&E aspects of construction activities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the implementation of AECOM’s Construction Manager’s (CM) EHS Management Plan (EHSMP) and Environmental Health and Safety Plan (EHASP).
  • Supervise and actively manage onsite CM EHS staff.
  • Establish a collaborative relationship with the client’s Operations team to facilitate the management of SH&E aspects of construction activities.
  • Support the CM in preparation of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) in accordance with client standards.
  • Support the CM in conducting various training for CM staff, including new employee orientations, visitor orientations, and Emergency Action Plan training.
  • Review all EHS-related submittals by contractors, including but not limited to EHASPs, JHAs, monthly reports, asbestos/lead/mercury/PCB management and sampling plans, waste management plans, soil re-use, hazardous waste contingency plans, erosion and sediment control plans, and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP).
  • Facilitate weekly EHS meetings with the contractor’s EHS Representative (EHSR) and other project management personnel to discuss upcoming construction-related EHS activities.
  • Conduct frequent construction site visits.
  • Track and monitor the contractor’s compliance with EHASP(s) and JHA(s).
  • Track and monitor all site EHSRs’ performance, including reviewing the EHSR’s daily reports and ensuring EHS issues are adequately addressed.
  • Perform and submit daily reports of the contractors’ work areas and document non-compliance with the contractor’s EHASPs and JHAs.
  • Review contractor’s incident reports for adequacy, participate in meetings related to construction incidents, and verify all necessary contractor corrective actions are implemented.
  • Oversee submission of EHS monthly status reports and metrics.
  • Prepare monthly trending analysis of contractor EHS performance.
  • Oversee Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) and drills for the site in coordination with client staff.
  • Review and manage all EHS Annual Reports (e.g., EPCRA, Hazardous Waste, Confined Space).

Requirements

  • BA/BS plus 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid US driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
  • A bachelor’s degree in Safety or Engineering.
  • 5 years of experience working in the construction industry.
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) Certification.
  • 2+ years of personnel management experience.
  • Incident Investigation Training.
  • Previous experience working with New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP).
  • Previous experience in tunneling or underground construction.

Relocation is not available for this position. Sponsorship is not available now or in the future. This posting is for a current vacancy, with AECOM intending to fill this position no sooner than February 29, 2027. All newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.

Pay

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, and experience. The range for this position is $140,000 to $170,000 yearly.
