Safety Data Analyst

About the role

The Safety Data Analyst supports data-driven safety analysis and improvements by identifying relationships and trends in data, displaying results of analyses, reviewing data for accuracy, quality, and completeness, establishing protocols for data management and security, and integrating safety data and analysis into decision-making processes.

The Safety Data Analyst will recommend and facilitate policy/program changes or adoptions, ensure implementation, audit compliance, and promote consistent application across locations.

Responsibilities

• Analyze company and industry data to identify and quantify specific risks, and collaborate with business, operations, and external resources to formulate recommendations for programs, policies, and operational changes, each supported by a full business case with defined metrics to evaluate effectiveness and impact.
• Analyze the effectiveness and cost/benefit of policies and programs designed to improve employee safety.
• Develop systems and establish processes to ensure data quality, proper collection, and validation of data elements to enable robust safety analysis.
• Develop data analysis and visualization tools, and user interface systems to facilitate data access, user-friendly queries, and system functionality.
• Use advanced predictive analytics, computational methods, and modeling and simulation techniques to identify and mitigate safety risks.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Attention to detail and complex problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of statistical theory and methods.
• Proficiency in data analysis techniques and tools.
• Computer programming and data/systems management skills.
• Ability to analyze and present data effectively.
• Experience with highway safety reporting and evaluation.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate across multiple divisions and organizations.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
• Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
• Must be able to read and speak the English language.

Working Conditions

• Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas.
• Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
• Ability to travel between offices as required.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
