Safety Coordinator - Miller Electric Company

Miller Electric Company designs, installs, and maintains advanced electrical systems, including traditional electrical contracting, security solutions, audio-visual integration, wireless networking, and building management systems.

About the role

The Safety Coordinator reports to the Regional Safety Manager and is responsible for maintaining the safest possible workplace and OSHA compliance. This hands-on role involves daily interaction with field personnel and the management team. The actual project assignment will be in Hampton, GA.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teams to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, standards, policies, and/or procedures.
• Provide technical expertise to managers and supervisors in establishing techniques and procedures for the elimination or control of unsafe behaviors, environments, and hazards.
• Plan and conduct periodic and unscheduled surveys and inspections of Miller Electric Company projects.
• Conduct hazard analyses of project operations.
• Assist in the update and maintenance of the company safety manual.
• Develop and conduct risk assessments and Job Task Analyses for relevant tasks.
• Coordinate with operating activities to provide safety training and ensure safety awareness throughout Miller Electric Company.
• Work with personnel to assure safe placement and job assignment.
• Assist in the maintenance of accident record keeping.
• Provide technical assistance with the investigation of accidents, incidents, injuries, and/or illnesses.
• Foster a team environment when advising on needed corrections.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 2+ years' experience working with OSHA regulations and safety procedures.
• OSHA 30-hour certification.
• Understanding of Workers’ Compensation.
• Strong technical writing ability.
• Strong understanding of Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
• Ability to address and train groups of 25-30.
• Ability to adapt to a changing work environment.
• Ability to act independently with minimal daily direction.
• Ability to work closely with all levels of Miller Electric Company.
• High energy and self-motivated.
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• BCSP certification (STS-C or higher).
• Proficient in Microsoft 365.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
