About the role

The Safety Coordinator oversees safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure work environment for all employees. This role assists the Safety Director and other safety managers in maintaining company compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations and serves as an on-site safety representative as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the enforcement of safety policies and procedures.
  • Identify, coordinate, and conduct safety training sessions.
  • Perform regular jobsite safety inspections to ensure compliance with Intex and OSHA safety policies.
  • Identify and correct OSHA and other hazards associated with construction.
  • Assist in investigations of accidents requiring medical attention.
  • Attend required insurance site safety audits.
  • Maintain and provide jobsite-specific safety documents.
  • Train and document employees on safety topics such as first aid, CPR, electrical safety, safety equipment, and jobsite machinery (e.g., aerial lifts, trenchers, excavators).
  • Provide OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 training classes when needed.
  • Maintain inventory of all Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
  • Attend classes at the direction of the Safety Director or other safety managers to pursue recognized safety certifications and other technical certifications as needed.

Requirements

  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Qualified CPR/First Aid instructor license preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude, mathematical, and English language skills.
  • Bilingual ability is a plus.
  • Current driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Flexibility to work early or late based on project demands.
  • Proficiency with business software, computers, and office machines.
  • Ability to work effectively with superintendents, foremen, and field personnel.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work with contract documents and vendors.
  • Self-monitoring to ensure quality work.
  • Ability to present information effectively to clients, vendors, and employees.

Physical Requirements

  • Personal weight and tools must not exceed ladder weight limits (Class 1 – 250 lbs. / Class 2 – 300 lbs.).
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
  • Constant movement on feet.
  • Climb ladders and scaffolds of all types and heights.
  • Transition from parking or street areas into construction zones, accessing all building levels using OSHA-approved ladders or stairs under construction.
  • Good vision (normal or corrected) and hearing (normal or corrected).
  • Ability to positively identify different colors.

Working Conditions

  • Work inside or outside while wearing PPE at all times.
  • Possible exposure to hot/cold temperatures, weather elements, dust, toxic materials, and restricted or confined spaces.
  • Work on slippery or uneven surfaces, ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, in ditches, and excavations.
  • Work in and around single and multi-story buildings, including portable sanitary facilities.
  • Exposure to all hazards typical of a heavy construction site.
