About the role
The Safety Coordinator supports the implementation and daily administration of the company's safety programs, policies, and compliance initiatives across assigned projects, branch operations, service operations, or field activities. This role works closely with field leadership, project management teams, and safety leadership to promote safe work practices, regulatory compliance, hazard awareness, and workforce engagement throughout active construction operations.
Responsibilities
- Support implementation and administration of company safety programs, policies, procedures, and compliance initiatives across assigned operations and projects
- Conduct routine field inspections, safety observations, audits, and jobsite reviews to identify hazards and support corrective action efforts
- Aid in incident reporting, investigations, corrective action tracking, and maintenance of required compliance documentation and records
- Coordinate and support employee safety orientations, toolbox talks, training sessions, workforce communication efforts, and onboarding activities
- Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety standards, customer requirements, PPE usage, and safe work practices
- Partner with field leadership, project teams, and subcontractors to promote workforce engagement, hazard awareness, and accountability throughout operations
- Maintain safety reports, inspection logs, certifications, training records, audit findings, and other electronic or manual documentation systems
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, regulatory inspections, customer audits, emergency response activities, and other operational safety priorities as assigned
Requirements
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction safety practices, and hazard recognition principles
- Understanding of construction operations, electrical safety practices, PPE requirements, and jobsite safety expectations preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with employees, field leadership, subcontractors, and customers
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments, projects, and deadlines simultaneously
- Ability to identify hazards, document findings, and assist with corrective action implementation
- Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and maintaining confidentiality
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, electronic reporting systems, safety management software, and mobile technology platforms
- Read and interpret safety procedures, construction documentation, inspection reports, and operational records
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and compliance documentation
- Ability to adapt to changing operational priorities and fast-paced construction environments
- May provide coordination support for subcontractor safety compliance activities and workforce communication efforts
- Assists safety leadership and field supervision with training coordination, compliance tracking, and operational support activities
- Supports onboarding and workforce engagement initiatives across assigned projects or operational teams
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate degree or coursework in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Construction Management, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred
- Combination of education, certifications, and relevant construction or safety experience may be considered
Certifications/Licenses
- OSHA 10 required
- OSHA 30 preferred
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required
Additional safety certifications or specialized construction safety training preferred
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2-4 years of construction, industrial, manufacturing, or safety-related experience preferred
- Experience supporting field operations, conducting inspections, maintaining compliance records, or assisting with safety initiatives preferred
- Experience working in construction, electrical contracting, industrial environments, or mission critical operations preferred
- Familiarity with OSHA standards, safety documentation processes, and incident reporting systems preferred
