About the role

The Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in helping the site achieve safety excellence. This developmental role has considerable overlap with Safety Manager responsibilities and reports to the site Safety Manager, with a dotted line to the regional Safety Liaison for professional growth and development.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the site Safety Manager to develop, implement, review, and continuously improve site safety and health programs to ensure compliance with company, federal, and state/provincial regulations.
  • Perform administrative duties of the safety department (e.g., SEEDS data entry, create/maintain training records, input to monthly safety scorecard, maintain employee involvement tracking).
  • Participate in periodic internal audits of the safety and health program, report findings, and assist in implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Partner with site leadership and associates to reduce risk, injuries, illnesses, and meet compliance obligations.
  • Spend quality time on the floor building relationships, learning the process, products, and equipment, and observing behaviors/conditions.
  • Participate in safety inspections, paired safety observations, and audits to determine alignment with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Own at least one section of the company safety audit for the site.
  • Assist in the development and execution of site risk-based safety plans and track action items to completion.
  • Partner with the site Safety Manager for approval of the risk-based safety plan by the site Safety Liaison.
  • Lead or participate in timely incident investigations to ensure high-quality root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Assist with the safety onboarding process, introducing site-specific safety policies, procedures, and standards, and facilitating compliance training.
  • Become knowledgeable of federal, state/provincial, and company safety and health requirements applicable to your location.
  • Partner with leadership and associates to respond to health and safety concerns and ideas, ensuring follow-up and closure.
  • Assist site teams in developing, reviewing, and updating written safety procedures such as JSAs, SOPs, and machine-specific lockout procedures.
  • Assist the Safety Manager in implementing all aspects of the site industrial hygiene (IH) program, including air and noise monitoring, chemical management, hearing conservation, and respiratory protection.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding personal and protected health information (e.g., work-related injury/illness records, IH monitoring results, hearing testing).
  • Act as the site safety contact during the absence of the site Safety Manager.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of safety-related experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, and accurate record-keeping ability.
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Direct and empathetic communication style.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of staff within the organization as well as external customers.
  • Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and prioritize work accordingly.
  • Ability to understand and interpret data while drawing logical conclusions based on available inputs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant degree or certificate.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards.
  • Certified Safety Professional certifications.

Pay

This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, targeting an hourly pay range of $24.00–$36.11 based on skills, qualifications, and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay, with potential plan funding ranging from zero to two times that target.
