About the role
Lead Daily Safety Operations
Conduct daily pre-task planning and safety meetings with field crews
Identify and address hazards through routine site inspections and audits
Ensure compliance with PPE requirements and site-specific safety standards
Promote a proactive safety culture focused on accountability and hazard recognition
Responsibilities
- Partner with General Contractors
Represent Velociti at GC-led safety meetings, toolbox talks, and audits
Coordinate all required safety documentation, including JHAs, permits, and safety plans
Communicate high-risk activities before work begins
Drive corrective actions and resolution of identified safety concerns - Manage Permits & Compliance
Obtain and maintain permits for hot work, confined space, elevated work, and other regulated activities
Verify worker qualifications, certifications, and site access requirements
Maintain accurate and organized safety records and documentation - Lead Incident Response
Serve as the first point of contact for incidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage events
Conduct investigations and determine root causes
Develop and track corrective action plans
Ensure timely reporting and OSHA compliance requirements are met - Train & Develop Teams
Deliver new-hire safety orientations and site onboarding
Facilitate toolbox talks and ongoing safety training
Coach supervisors and crew leaders on safety leadership and accountability
Support continuous improvement initiatives across the project
Requirements
- Required Qualifications
3–5+ years of construction safety experience in commercial or industrial environments
Strong working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Standards
Experience working within General Contractor-managed construction sites
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Proficiency with digital safety reporting and documentation systems
Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed
Preferred Experience
- Data center construction projects
Low-voltage, structured cabling, or telecommunications installation
Working for specialty contractors or subcontractors on large construction projects
Experience supporting elevated work, containment systems, and cable infrastructure installation
Preferred Certifications
- The following certifications are highly valued and may be required based on project specifications:
OSHA 30-Hour Construction
First Aid / CPR / AED
CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician)
STSC (Safety Trained Supervisor – Construction)
Fall Protection Competent Person
Confined Space Entry
Scaffold Competent Person
MEWP / Scissor Lift / Aerial Lift Training
Hazard Communication (HazCom/GHS)
Site-Specific Owner or GC Safety Certifications
Work Environment
- This position is located on an active commercial construction site and requires:
Frequent walking, standing, climbing, and access to elevated work areas
Exposure to construction noise, dust, weather, and heavy equipment
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Daily use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)
