Safety Coordinator
About the Role
The Safety Coordinator for NRI Distribution will provide health and safety support to Operations and ensure compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. This position promotes employee awareness for health and safety through training, companywide communication, and a marketing appeal. The role maintains all safety compliance records to satisfy corporate, federal, and state or local legislation and fosters a positive safety culture while complying with NRI Distribution safety standards.
Success in this role requires the ability to manage, train, and develop all NRI employees, effective communication across all levels of the organization, and comfort working both independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team. A customer service outlook is essential.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support Safety Ambassador Meetings, review incident/accident trends, and present safety opportunities.
- Maintain the safety training schedule and create a culture of mindfulness around safety practices and incentive programs.
- Practice and reinforce safe working techniques and safety policies, guidelines, and regulatory legislation.
- Provide subject matter expert (SME) guidance and leadership to assist company compliance with rules and regulations.
- Track, maintain, and archive all safety training documentation and databases to keep real-time status.
- Conduct monthly building audits and communicate corrections to appropriate departments.
- Ensure completion of Safety Incident - Injury Investigation Reports (SIIIR) for all post-incident and accident situations at the facility with the Operations Management team.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and incident investigations alongside the Management team.
- Track and communicate processes on post-accident/incident investigations and review corrective action measures.
- Assist with the post-accident/reasonable suspicion drug testing program.
- Ensure contractors, personnel working on the property, and visitors comply with NRI policies and safety requirements; maintain the Contractors/Vendor Safety Program.
- Identify safety policies as needed to ensure all safe practices and equipment are utilized in day-to-day training.
- Host and facilitate equipment operator certification classes and in-house training sessions to support operational and compliance requirements.
- Assist with maintaining the Site Emergency Response Plan and procedures.
Requirements
- 12+ months of direct safety experience.
- Associate’s degree in environmental, health & safety, or equivalent to 2 years of related experience.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910.
- OSHA 10/30 certification preferred.
- First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
- Physical ability to carry out essential job functions, including lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., walking and standing for extended periods, climbing ladders/stairs, working in elevated areas, and tolerating conditions such as dust, dirt, noise, odors, heat, and cold.
- Trustworthy and moral character (pre-employment background and drug tests are required).
- Available to work flexible shifts, including days, nights, and/or weekends.

Pay
Starting wage: $25.00/hour - $29.00/hour
