About the role
The primary purpose of this role is to execute safety and health programs across various facilities including the Plant, Wastewater, Transportation, Offal, Rendering, Administration, and others. The role involves promoting a safety culture, driving continuous improvement, and preventing injuries and accidents through the application of industrial processes, mechanics, chemistry, and health and safety laws.
Responsibilities
- Conducts safety inspections, documents findings, and implements corrective actions.
- Communicates findings and action plans to facility managers and directors.
- Completes internal reports such as daily operating reports (DOR's), monthly operating reports (MOR's), and other required reports.
- Executes on safety and health programs.
- Executes site compliance visits for facilities under areas of responsibility to ensure employee safety, compliance, and company goals.
- Supports the Safety & Health Manager with maintaining records, recommending corrective actions, updating inspections, and site visits.
- Works with internal customers to provide direction and support on compliance programs and continuous improvement.
- Facilitates Goal Zero programs.
- Conducts and creates awareness and recognition activities.
- Attends safety and environmental continued education and specialized training.
- Facilitates Goal Zero actions.
- Ensures training on OSHA regulations, as well as company policies are completed as required.
- Sets up and maintains records of job task analyses, determines employee exposure, and institutes safe work procedures.
- Assists the manager in conducting and creating awareness and recognition activities to promote the safety culture.
- Delivers maintenance new hire training and supports future supervisor and leadership safety training initiatives.
- Leads or assists with incident review boards (IRBs) and investigations involving incidents, accidents, and near misses.
- Summarizes findings, identifies root causes, and submits reports to Human Resources and medical personnel as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Safety/Environmental Science or equivalent work experience.
- OSHA 10 or 30 Certification required.
- 0 - 3 years' health and safety experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated computer skills.
