Safety Coordinator

About the role

Kilgore Industries, one of the largest Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing subcontractors in Texas and a 2022 Houston Chronicle Top Workplace, is seeking an experienced Safety Coordinator to join our growing team. The Safety Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing employee safety at work, as well as facilitating compliance with occupational health and safety (OSH) requirements.

Responsibilities

• Implement established Kilgore EHS policies and programs.
• Advise and lead employees on various safety-related topics.
• Review existing policies and procedures.
• Adhere to all rules and regulations.
• Coordinate with the Human Resources and Safety Department to facilitate new hire safety onboarding.
• Conduct risk assessments.
• Assist the Safety Director with report preparation related to accidents and violations to determine causes and develop solutions to prevent future incidents.

Requirements

• 1-2 years working as a Safety Coordinator or similar role.
• Working knowledge of Federal OSHA regulations.
• Working knowledge of potentially hazardous materials.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience producing reports such as Safety Audits, Job Hazard Analysis, Accident reports, Incident reports, and Near Miss reports.
• Demonstrated ability to write policies and procedures for health and safety.
• Outstanding organizational and time-management skills.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Team player with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications

• OSHA 510 certification is a plus.
• Outreach Trainer (OSHA 500) certification is a plus.
• First Aid/CPR (Trainer) certification or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is a plus.
• Bilingual is a plus.
