Safety Coordinator

POSITION TITLE: EMS/Safety Coordinator REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Plant Manager PAY STRUCTURE: Hourly PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION: To prepare, facilitate, monitor, and manage the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) management system. Ensure compliance with internal policies and ISO 14001 requirements. Special Skills Proficient with Microsoft Office and common business softwareKnowledge of document control systems and best practicesStrong analytical skills and sound judgmentAbility to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environmentProven ability to lead and sustain continuous improvement initiativesSolid understanding of customer safety and compliance expectationsCurrent CPR and First Aid certification Duties And Responsibilities EHS Program Management Maintain and oversee the EMS/Safety (EHS) system, ensuring all associated documentation is current, accurate, and controlledDevelop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures aligned with company goals, regulatory requirements, and ISO 14001/45001 standardsConduct routine inspections and audits to identify hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective actionsTrack and assess the effectiveness of EHS programs; recommend and implement improvementsMaintain accurate and compliant Safety Data Sheets (SDS)Develop and maintain emergency response procedures, including evacuation plans and drillsServe as the primary contact for regulatory audits, inspections, and permit processes Training & Communication Develop and deliver training programs on topics including emergency response, safe work practices, and environmental awarenessProvide EHS training during new hire orientationCommunicate updates on regulations, performance metrics, and best practicesCollaborate across departments to drive ergonomic and wellness improvements Employee Engagement & Safety Culture Foster a culture of safety by engaging employees at all levels in EHS initiativesSupport or lead safety and environmental improvement projectsInvestigate incidents and near misses; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions General Expectations Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and company informationComply with all Corvac policies regarding safety and professional conductCollaborate with team leaders, maintenance, and quality to resolve EHS-related issues Monday - Friday
