About the Role

The Safety and Health Coordinator engages employees in creating a positive safety work culture while implementing company safety programs and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to Safety & Health. This position supports the Safety Manager on the 2nd and 3rd shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Track and enforce safety training requirements for 2nd and 3rd shifts.
  • Conduct department audits while engaging employees in safety requirements and promotions.
  • Perform job tasks in all departments periodically to analyze JSAs and safety indicators.
  • Perform root cause analysis for incident investigations to develop meaningful corrective actions for long-term mitigation.
  • Assist with training of employees, vendors, and visitors.
  • Assist in establishing Safety & Health goals for the facility to increase safety culture and produce an incident-free workforce and workplace.
  • Communicate effectively with management to foster a positive safety culture.
  • Develop and/or translate training programs to enhance communication of safety messages to employees.
  • Attend huddle meetings to ensure the safety message is properly conveyed to employees.
  • Respond promptly to employee concerns and ensure follow-up with employees requesting information or assistance.
  • Report and develop corrective actions for critical situations, including environmental issues on the 2nd and 3rd shifts.
  • Receive purchased items in Oracle.
  • Ensure KPIs and OSHA documentation are properly managed in Intelex.
  • Assist medical staff with injuries/incidents and required medical screenings.
  • Actively participate with safety teams at the facility (e.g., Haz Mat).
  • Engage in Safety Committees and ensure employee engagement.
  • Conduct statistical analysis to assist management in developing programs for compliance and a safe working environment.
  • Attend meetings on 2nd/3rd shifts to communicate safety information and relay operational information to the Safety Manager.
  • Send out safety reports as directed by the Safety Manager (Daily Safety Communication).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management or experience in a related field.
  • 2-5 years' experience preferred (consideration given to strong entry-level candidates).
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Able to work independently with little to no direct supervision.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of employees.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Continued professional enhancement through education and certifications.

Skills

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
  • Ability to obtain instructor/trainer certifications for required Safety and Health programs.
  • Minimal EMT certification a plus.
  • Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) certification for drug screening.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to move throughout the facility.
  • Ability to climb stairs.
  • Ability to write and type.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Work Environment

Employee will be exposed to various environments, including hot, cold, wet, dry, and noisy conditions.
