About the role
Balfour Beatty is seeking a Safety Coordinator in Charlotte to support field operations for our Carolinas Division.
Responsibilities
- Support implementation of project safety plans and Zero Harm® initiatives.
- Cook routine jobsite walkthroughs, identify hazards, and track corrective actions.
- Maintain safety signage, bulletin boards, and first-aid/safety equipment.
- Aid with new-hire safety orientation and basic task-specific training.
- Maintain toolbox talk logs, meeting minutes, and training attendance.
- Aid with first aid response, incident documentation, and basic investigation steps.
- Participate in regulatory inspections and help ensure prompt correction of violations.
- Maintain organized safety files, inspection reports, and OSHA-related documentation.
- Prepare periodic safety summaries for project teams and Safety leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety & Environmental Health, Construction Management, or related field; or equivalent field experience.
- 2–4 years of construction or industrial safety experience preferred.
- OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 strongly preferred.
- Ability to recognize hazards, communicate effectively, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, email, and basic digital reporting tools.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced field environment and uphold Balfour Beatty safety values.
