Safety Coordinator
About the role
We are seeking a Safety Professional to serve as a trusted advisor and advocate for safety across active hyperscale data center construction projects. This role is highly field-focused, requiring daily interaction with crews, supervisors, and project leadership to promote a proactive, partnership-driven approach to safety. The ideal candidate will support construction, telecommunications, fiber optic, OSP, and ISP operations by identifying risks, reinforcing safe work practices, and helping teams maintain compliance with company, client, and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Partner with field personnel, supervisors, and project leaders to foster a positive, safety-first culture on construction sites.
- Conduct daily site inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments to proactively identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Monitor ongoing construction, telecommunications, fiber optic, OSP, and ISP activities to ensure compliance with OSHA, client, and company safety requirements.
- Coach and mentor field teams on safe work practices, PPE utilization, and site-specific safety expectations.
- Lead and support toolbox talks, pre-task planning sessions, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and other safety training initiatives.
- Assist with incident investigations, root cause analyses, and the development of corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain accurate and organized safety records, reports, and documentation to support project and client requirements.
- Promote safety through collaboration, influence, and leadership rather than enforcement.
- Work closely with project teams to ensure high-risk operations and permit-required work are properly planned and executed safely.
- Track safety observations, corrective actions, and follow-up items to ensure continuous improvement and accountability.
- Build strong relationships with craft workers and project stakeholders through consistent field engagement and support.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of safety programs, procedures, and training across multiple projects.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in construction safety, safety management, or EHS roles within data center, telecommunications, construction, or related industries.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards.
- Experience conducting incident investigations and performing root cause analysis.
- Understanding of permit-required work and high-risk construction activities.
- Ability to effectively coach and mentor crews on safe work practices and compliance requirements.
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence site personnel through relationship-building and leadership.
- Comfortable working outdoors and spending extended periods walking active construction sites.
- Ability to establish credibility and trust with field teams and project leadership.
- Experience facilitating safety meetings, JHAs, pre-task planning sessions, and training programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 certification preferred.
- OSHA 30 certification in Construction Safety.
- Professional certifications such as CHST, CSHO, ASP, CSP, or equivalent credentials are highly valued.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Experience supporting data center construction, structured cabling, fiber installation, or telecommunications infrastructure projects.
- Background in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs and construction safety management.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Willingness to travel nationwide for long-term project assignments.

Work Environment
This position supports active hyperscale data center construction projects throughout the United States and is primarily field-based. Team members spend most of their time on jobsites conducting safety observations, engaging with crews, and supporting project teams in maintaining safe and productive work environments. Projects often involve fiber installation, structured cabling, telecommunications infrastructure, and complex construction activities both inside and outside data center facilities. The work environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and growth-oriented, offering opportunities to contribute to some of the nation's largest data center developments. Travel is required, with long-term project assignments providing stability and clear advancement opportunities. The typical schedule consists of Monday through Friday day-shift hours with limited overtime, supporting a more predictable work-life balance than many traditional construction roles. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors, navigating active construction sites, and wearing required PPE throughout the workday.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $40.00 – $55.00/hr. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
