Safety Assistant - FLEX Team - PT .6 Days

Maintains patient safety from self and environment.

• Completes skills check list and complete Age Appropriate Competencies as per Sky Lakes policy and procedures.
• Affords assistance to the patient with meals, feeding, and ambulation; activities of daily living per instructions from the RN.

Maintains effective communication with the patient, documenting behavior observations and safety concerns and reporting to the RN. Provides clear, simple directions to the patient(s), reinforces teaching and orientation to the patient. Utilizes verbal de-escalation techniques to redirect patients. Adheres to the RN's directives regarding patient and environmental safety.

Makes observations and reports any abnormalities. Adjusts the environment to ensure safety within the care setting. Knows the fire plan and escape routes for both the patient and oneself.

• Demonstrates competence through ongoing completion of proficiency testing, skill demonstration, and practice of core standards for service excellence.
• Provides patient care and performs tasks using job skills and develops knowledge specific to the patient’s age and/or developmental level.
• Affords assessment of the patient's physical needs and functional status to provide appropriate care.

Performs other duties as assigned.
