SAFETY AND SECURITY OFFICER (SUBSTITUTE - TEMPORARY)

About the role

Fauquier County is seeking substitute Safety and Security Officers (SSO) to cover vacancies due to scheduled leave and/or training. Ideal candidates must have prior law enforcement service and meet specific requirements.

Responsibilities

• Exercise good judgment under stressful and potentially dangerous conditions
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Interact positively and professionally with students, staff, and members of the public
• Complete compulsory certification training within sixty days of hire
• Have three years of progressively more responsible experience in law enforcement, corrections, or a security-related field
• Obtain a School Safety Officer Certification through the Department of Criminal Justice Services

Requirements

• Prior law enforcement service within the last ten years
• Knowledge of standard security procedures and relevant regulations
• Ability to retire or resign from a law enforcement position in good standing
• Successfully complete compulsory certification training within sixty days of hire
• Three years of progressively more responsible experience in law enforcement, corrections, or a security-related field
• Able to obtain a School Safety Officer Certification

Qualifications

Pay

The hourly rate range for this position is $16.39-$26.23.
