Safety Advisor IV - Auburn MA
Position Summary
The Safety Advisor IV promotes a proactive safety culture across projects spanning water and wastewater infrastructure, energy and utility systems, industrial facilities, and commercial construction. This role partners with project teams and subcontractors to ensure full compliance with OSHA requirements and company safety policies, while supporting strategic initiatives that elevate overall safety performance. The position also supports the Safety Manager and Director of Safety in providing leadership and oversight to the safety team.
Responsibilities
- Consistently upholds and promotes Company Safety and Code of Conduct Policies, championing a culture of safety excellence and serving as a trusted advisor to project teams and subcontractors.
- Conduct comprehensive site audits, identify hazards, implement corrective actions, and utilize AI-enabled construction safety apps to support hazard analysis, JSAs, and field observations.
- Develop and deliver engaging safety training programs for employees and subcontractors. Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement preventive and corrective measures.
- Participate in pre-construction planning to ensure safety requirements are fully integrated into project execution.
- Prepare safety documentation, including bid materials, regulatory submissions, and project-specific safety plans. Support annual safety budget planning and manage related expenditure responsibly.
- Mentor and provide guidance to safety team members as needed.
- Maintain full compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and all company standards.
- Perform additional duties assigned to support strategic organizational safety initiatives.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and guidance to 3 or more Safety Advisors, supporting their performance and professional development, while serving as the primary backup to the Safety Manager and Director of Safety.
Hiring Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or combination of education, certification and equivalent construction related safety experience.
- 7 - 10 years of progressive safety experience in construction or a related field (e.g., engineering, owner's representative services, large-scale infrastructure).
- Holds (or is working towards) a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certification.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state safety regulations.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to influence at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with experience using AI-based safety applications (e.g., FYLD), Procore, or similar construction field safety management software.
- OSHA-30 Certification (company-supported if not current), DOT Medical Card (assistance provided), valid U.S. driver's license and ability to travel to job sites, successful drug screen, background check, and motor vehicle record (MVR) review per federal/state requirements.
