Safety Administrative Assistant
About the role
As an Administrative Assistant, you will be responsible for creating and implementing safety plans, reviewing policies, and conducting safety inspections to identify potential hazards. You will develop and maintain knowledge of safety regulations, identify training needs, and ensure annual refresher training is completed. Additionally, you will conduct powered industrial truck training and manage administrative duties such as recordkeeping, injury triage, and accident investigations.
Responsibilities
- Create and implement safety plans and ensure daily compliance.
- Review and update existing policies and procedures.
- Inspect facilities to identify safety and health hazards.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of safety regulations.
- Identify safety training needs and develop action plans for completion.
- Ensure annual refresher training is conducted as needed.
- Conduct powered industrial truck trainings.
- Perform administrative duties and maintain records.
- Manage injury triage and conduct accident/incident investigations.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English with fluency in reading, writing, and speaking.
- Experience in safety training and administrative tasks.
- Data entry proficiency.
- Experience in injury reporting.
- Human resources knowledge.

Work environment
The position is based in an office within a meat processing company. Initially, you will work from 6 am to 3 pm for a few months to cover for a coordinator on leave, then transition to a swing shift from 3 pm to 12 am. Flexibility is required to accommodate presence across all three shifts. The role is part of a small safety team reporting to the Safety Manager and HR Director. The team oversees safety in multiple locations, with a coordinator handling operations in Oklahoma.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodburn, OR.
Pay and benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.50 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
