The Franklin Township YMCA is seeking great individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of school-aged children in our communities. As an After School Counselor (Site Supervisor), you will expand skills such as leadership, communication, and problem-solving while providing a safe, pleasant, and caring atmosphere during the school year.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision of children in an afterschool site.
• Plan, prepare, and implement daily activities for groups of 15-50 children.
• Create innovative games and activities to keep children engaged.
• Teach a variety of activities, aiding in the supervision of all activities, including field trips, leading games, and small or large group activities.
• Establish relationships with children and their parents.
• Engage each camper by name and communicate with them to ensure a quality, fun, and safe experience.
• Coach and guide site assistants/counselors and children during all activities.
• Effectively communicate group needs with leadership and daily happenings/incidents to parents.
• Maintain group belongings, including state binder, student information sheets, necessary medications when off-site, and first aid kit.
• Handle all behavior, medical, and other incidents within the group, requesting assistance from leadership when necessary.
• Embrace and promote the YMCA’s four core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
• Attend trainings, seminars, and meetings as required.
• Adhere to and incorporate YMCA values, educating members about the YMCA mission and goals.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• At least 2 years of experience working with children ages 5-13 years old.
• Experience overseeing staff preferred.
• Knowledge of current education practices.
• Must be able to effectively work with minimal on-site supervision.

Schedule

Must be able to work 5 days a week. Hours vary by school location:

  • Elizabeth Ave School: 7:00am-9:30am
• Aftercare (Monday-Friday):
  • Claremont School: 3:45pm-6:00pm
  • Conerly Rd School: 2:45pm-6:00pm
  • Franklin Park School: 2:45pm-6:00pm
  • Hillcrest School: 2:45pm-6:00pm
  • MacAfee Rd School: 3:45pm-6:00pm
  • Elizabeth Ave School: 3:45pm-6:00pm
