About the role
The City Colleges of Chicago, part of the largest community college system in Illinois, seeks CPS alumni to serve as S.O.A.R. Peer Mentors at Harold Washington College. This role involves empowering students through academic support and personal guidance.
Responsibilities
- Act as a CCC student representative to prospective and current students, faculty, staff, and the public.
- Provide customer service through outreach, mentoring interactions, campus events, and recruitment activities.
- Share personal experiences and assist new and returning students in transitioning into college life.
- Attend training sessions and meetings as required.
- Adhere to CCC’s Customer Service Excellence Standards.
Requirements
- High School Diploma from a Chicago Public Schools network high school.
- Knowledge of City Colleges of Chicago.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Positive attitude and self-motivation.
- Enrolled in a minimum of 3-credit semester hours.
- Pursuing an approved educational credential, degree, or certificate.
- Maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA (waived for first semester new students).
- Not currently employed by City Colleges of Chicago.
- Chicago residency required within 6 months of hire.

- Flexible and able to speak one-on-one and in group settings.

Pay and Schedule
$17.00 per hour. Salary range and benefits are determined by the applicant's qualifications and experience.
Schedule
