RV Body/Paint Shop Technician

About the role

Blue Compass RV is seeking a self-motivated Body/Paint Shop Technician specializing in high-quality collision repair and painting of RVs. The role involves repairing damaged body panels, including replacement, repair, fabrication, and painting, as well as occasional replacement of windows and windshields. Technicians will also receive training on other RV repairs when collision work is not available.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs on a variety of materials including fiberglass, aluminum, steel, and composites.
• Spray single-stage and base/clear paint systems with proficiency.
• Execute work orders while diagnosing and repairing recreational vehicle equipment and structures.
• Determine the best product for repair and keep track of parts and materials used.
• Remove vehicle trim to access body panels and properly fill depressions with body filler.
• Remove damaged parts using power tools and cutting torches.
• Bolt or weld replacement parts in position using power tools and welding equipment.
• File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces using power tools and hand tools.
• Replace bolts on panels and align properly for cosmetic repairs.
• Restore damaged metal frames and body sections to original specifications using special equipment.
• Develop efficient methods for each job and perform related troubleshooting tasks.
• Keep supervisor apprised of work progress and ensure final work product is inspected.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Previous experience in custom vehicle painting, automotive painting, RV painting, or metal/body work.
• Ability to prep, refinish, and color match paint.
• Experience in base coat/clear coat applications, including fades, pearls, and stripes.
• Experience with fiberglass repair and finishing, metal replacement, and RV collision repair.

Pay

$40–$50/hour (flat rate).

Schedule

5-day work weeks.
