Runaway Homeless Youth Programs (RHY) On-Call Outreach Specialist

About the role

The Runaway Homeless Youth Programs (RHY) On-Call Outreach Specialist is responsible for immediate telephone and/or in-person responses to hotline calls for youth and natural supports calling our 24/7/365 hotline. The Specialist intervenes by stabilizing crises, educating youth and their families/guardians, and coordinating services. Additionally, they document all calls and relay information to program leadership.

Responsibilities

• Respond to hotline calls in person and via telephone with compassion and direct instructions, meeting diverse needs of callers 24/7, 7 days a week including weekends and holidays.
• Document hotline calls promptly.
• Work cooperatively with Host Home families.
• Affirm standards and regulations set by accrediting RHY.
• Represent the agency in developing or maintaining relationships with other organizations, including community agencies, public agencies, and referral sources.
• Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct.
• Develop practical understanding of child, adolescent, and family development, relevant issues for homeless youth, and interventions for runaway and homeless teens.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of records through timely completion of assigned documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
• Ability to qualify as an approved agency driver.
• Own a cell phone for on-call responsibilities.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and ongoing training.
• Develop teamwork through collaboration and case consultation.
• Ensure all required trainings, certifications, and licenses are kept current.
• Call on-call supervisor in case of an emergency situation (clinical support needed, AWOL, safety concerns).
• Respect client privacy and maintain confidentiality of all information obtained during treatment.

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field.
• Prefer valid Ohio LSW, LPC, or one year experience in the child welfare field.
• Experience working with youth by providing crisis intervention, service coordination, skill building, and family education.

Pay

The salary for this position is $15/hour when actively engaging with clients.
