About the role
Riverview Gardens School District seeks a Behavior Interventionist to support campuses in implementing PBIS, Trauma-Informed Care, and Restorative Practices. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree, preferably with a Master's and BCBA/ABA certification, and at least 3 years of teaching experience.
Responsibilities
- Develops, coordinates, and facilitates training and professional development for school personnel on Trauma Informed Care and restorative practices.
- Delivers district-wide training on PBIS and presents staff development training in assigned schools.
- Supports schools in developing and implementing school performance plans and reducing the use of interventions that remove students from the active learning environment.
- Provides support to schools in developing and implementing multi-tiered systems of supports to address student social and emotional needs.
- Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of social and emotional curriculum.
- Consults with teachers, counselors, and social workers on educational needs, interpretation of assessment data, and implementation of behavior intervention plans.
- Provides suggestions regarding behavioral management/structured intervention strategies for teachers and/or parents.
- Conducts functional behavioral assessment (FBA) training and assists targeted teachers in developing class-wide systems of reinforcement.
- Collaborates with other departments to integrate PBIS with other district initiatives and collects and monitors school and district data.
- Pursues professional growth through attending staff development programs, joining professional associations, reading journals, and participating in workshops and conferences.
Qualifications
- Minimum bachelor's degree, Masters & BCBA/ABA preferred.
- 3 years of teaching experience preferred.
- Experience dealing with behavioral issues in an educational setting or equivalent.
- Broad knowledge of instructional strategies related to behavior interventions.
- Experience in supporting the achievement of underserved populations preferred.
- Creative and proactive problem-solving skills.
- Ability to develop and facilitate trainings and workshops.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management.
- Ability to work productively with diverse populations, teachers, parents, agencies, and community members.
- Ability to travel throughout the district by means of private transportation.
- Successful completion of a background check by Human Resources.
