An exciting opportunity is available for a junior scientist to join the Albert Laboratory at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. The scientist will perform research using genetics, genomics, and molecular biology techniques. The lab investigates how genetic differences between individuals influence gene expression, cell biology and complex traits in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
Responsibilities
- Conduct complex, multi-step laboratory procedures based on written protocols or oral instruction from the PI or other senior researchers, using molecular biology, microbiological, or genetic techniques.
- Typical tasks include DNA, RNA and plasmid extraction, molecular cloning, DNA sequencing, gel electrophoresis, and yeast transformation.
- Maintain, propagate, and analyze yeast strains.
