Router (CNC)

About the role

The CNC/Router Operator is responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and tending to the computerized woodworking machine (CNC Router). Responsibilities include starting the router, adjusting controls, making trial cuts, determining product specifications and materials, feeding doors into the CNC machine, producing desired routing, adjusting CNC machine tables or cutting devices, setting controls to produce specified cuts or operations, inspecting and marking completed work pieces, stacking them on pallets, verifying quality of all completed products, and monitoring production.

Responsibilities

• Start the router and make trial cuts to ensure proper accuracy.
• Determine product specifications and materials, work methods, and machine setup requirements according to blueprints and work orders.
• Feed doors into CNC machine to produce desired routing and adjust CNC machine tables or cutting devices and set controls to produce specified cuts or operations.
• Maintain the CNC machine, monitor operation, adjust machine to correct problems, and ensure conformance to specifications.
• Inspect and mark completed work pieces and stack them on pallets for movement to the next workstation.
• Verify quality of all completed products and monitor production.
• Use Masterpack data entry (scrap, reloads, production).
• Perform material handling tasks: staging product into CNC loader based on WIP schedule, wrapping, labeling, and staging all completed product, removing and disposing of all cutout debris from machinery.

Qualifications

• Must be mechanically inclined and have good math and measurement skills.
• Must read and write English.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must have good attendance and safety records.
• Must demonstrate solid teamwork abilities.
• This position requires high attention to detail.
• Must be a regular, full-time employee with at least 6 months in current position.

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing.
• Frequent repetitive motions.
• Frequent use of hands to feel, handle, manually slide and flip cores, and reach with hands and arms.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; and up to 80 lbs with assistance.
• Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, walking, pulling, reaching, and ability to work at a fast pace.
• Significant amount of dust exposure.
• High level of concentration to focus on product quality and productivity.
• Strong eye/hand coordination.
• Ability to work in a mildly controlled environment - can expect some cold and heat during extreme weather conditions.
• Good attendance and ability to work overtime and weekends when circumstances and workload requires, as assigned by management.
