This position is headquartered at the Richmond District Office, 618 South 8th St Suite 300A, Richmond, CA 94804. Employees must report to their assigned headquarters office. This position is not eligible for telework.

About the Role

The Route Sales Representative serves as a liaison to Lottery retail accounts under the general direction of the Route Sales Supervisor. Assigned a state van, the representative conducts daily field visits to a predetermined portion of assigned Lottery retailers to maintain direct contact and handle all functions associated with the sale of Lottery products.

Territories supervised include San Francisco County and San Mateo County.

Responsibilities

• Maintain direct contact with assigned Lottery retailers.
• Perform all functions related to the sale of Lottery products, including Scratchers® games and draw games such as Powerball®, Mega Millions®, SuperLotto Plus®, Fantasy 5, and Hot Spot®.
• Conduct field visits to retailers within San Francisco and San Mateo counties.
• Report to the Richmond District Office headquarters.

Requirements

• Current Route Sales Representative exam (if needed, list eligibility can be gained here).
• Background investigation clearance prior to hiring.
• Medical clearance prior to hiring.
• Valid California Driver’s License (CDL). Applicants must provide CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements/restrictions on their application.
• No felony convictions or gambling-related offenses (per the California State Lottery Act).

Qualifications

All experience and education relating to the Minimum Qualifications listed on the Classification Specification should be included on the State Application (STD Form 678) to demonstrate eligibility. The Classification Specification is available under "Minimum Requirements" in the job announcement.

Applicants with foreign transcripts must provide a transcript evaluation indicating the number of units equivalent to the foreign coursework. Transcripts and evaluations may be unofficial; official transcripts will be required upon appointment.

Pay

• Range A: $3,521.00 - $4,406.00 per month
• Range B: $4,092.00 - $5,124.00 per month

New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Effective July 1, 2025, specific bargaining units and associated excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for Personal Leave hours each month. More details here.
