ROUTE SALES REPRESENTATIVE

Working Title: Route Sales Representative - Sacramento District Office

About the role

The California Lottery is a multi-billion-dollar enterprise headquartered in Sacramento and a revenue generator for the state, funding California’s public schools and colleges. This position serves as a liaison to Lottery retail accounts, maintaining direct contact with retailers and managing all functions associated with the sale of Lottery products.

This role is based in Sacramento County, with territories including Sacramento, Merced, Stanislaus, and San Joaquin counties. The position is not eligible for telework; employees must report to the Sacramento District Office.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily field visits to a predetermined portion of assigned Lottery retailers using a state-provided van.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for retailers, ensuring the sale and distribution of Lottery products.
• Maintain direct communication with retailers to support product availability and compliance.

Requirements

• Current Route Sales Representative exam (or eligibility to take the exam if not already completed).
• Valid California Driver’s License (CDL) with no restrictions that would prevent driving a state vehicle.
• Must pass a background investigation and medical clearance prior to hiring.
• No felony convictions or gambling-related offenses (per the California State Lottery Act).
• Must be able to report in-person to the Sacramento District Office; telework is not permitted.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications listed in the Classification Specification for the ROUTE SALES REPRESENTATIVE position. Education or experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of the role should be clearly outlined in the State Application (STD Form 678). Foreign transcripts must include an evaluation indicating equivalent units.

Pay

• Range A: $3,521.00 - $4,406.00 per month
• Range B: $4,092.00 - $5,124.00 per month
• New hires start at the minimum salary of the classification or alternate range.

Effective July 1, 2025, certain employees may be subject to a salary reduction of 2% - 4.62% in exchange for Personal Leave hours.
