About the Role
As a Route Driver, you will operate a semi-truck to collect animal mortalities, fat, and bone for removal from customer locations. This role involves maintaining excellent customer relations while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Collect and inspect raw material at customer locations for foreign or hazardous materials.
- Maintain an Electronic DOT log.
- Provide customers with receipts of pick-up and obtain signatures from management.
- Maintain company vehicle in clean condition and operate it in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct safety checks and inspections of the vehicle daily.
- Complete vehicle condition reports and all required company paperwork (route tickets, inspection reports, accident reports, mileage reports, service forms, etc.).
- Follow established routes as assigned.
- Attend all safety meetings; may serve on the Safety Committee.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Class A CDL; Tankers Endorsement preferred.
- Good driving record.
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
- Basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers).
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of prior experience operating a commercial vehicle in a route delivery setting.
- Prior route experience in a customer-oriented environment.
- Experience with truck hydraulics.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized with superior time management skills.
- Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations and adapt to changes.
- Ability to work well with internal staff and external customers.
Physical Demands
- Constantly required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
- Frequently required to sit for extended periods and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally push, pull, or move up to 200 lbs.
- Frequently must push, pull, move, or lift between 75-200 lbs.
- Ability to work weekends and/or overtime as needed.
Work Environment
Job functions are carried out in a commercial motor vehicle, at customer locations, and in a plant environment.
