Rotor Mechanic

About the role

As a Rotor Mechanic, you will perform manual machining operations on compressor and turbine rotors and components. You will work with engineering drawings and specifications, operate machine tools, and support rotor handling, blading, and grinding activities. Your strong technical skills and attention to detail will ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational procedures, delivering high-quality rotor repairs and exceptional service to customers.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, safety rules, operating procedures, maintenance instructions, and technical manuals.
• Apply knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances while utilizing algebra and geometry concepts during machining operations.
• Start and monitor machine operations to identify malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and make necessary adjustments.
• Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on mills, lathes, jig borers, and grinders.
• Unstack and stack compressor rotors in accordance with operational procedures.
• Perform blading and tip grinding activities on compressor wheels.
• Maintain adherence to safety, quality, and operational standards throughout all shop activities.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent and 5+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with rotor manual machining, particularly on gas turbine rotor machinery.
• Demonstrated intermediate-level skills in Milling, Runouts, Turning, and Grinding on Manual Lathes and VTLs.
• Experience supporting Rotor Shop and Machine Shop operations involving steam rotors, gas rotors, cases, gas components, aero components, and valve rack repairs.
• Ability to operate a manual lathe for rotor machining activities.
• Experience performing gas turbine rotor and component repairs on HSPT, GE10, Frame 3, Frame 5, Frame 6, and Frame 7 equipment.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Current work authorization in the country of employment; employer is unable to provide or continue work authorization sponsorship for this role.

Schedule

The following shift options may be available based on operational needs:

• 1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
• 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
