About the role

Air Liquide Large Industries provides industrial gas and energy solutions vital to customers' industrial production. We own and operate over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S., supplying oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, and syngas in large quantities to major customers in chemicals, petrochemicals, refining, and steel industries. Our pipeline operations and industrial gas production facilities are monitored 24/7 within a leading-edge operations control center in Houston, Texas, tracking over 89,000 data points to optimize supply reliability and energy efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and provide technical direction for in-house compressor specialists in planned and unplanned turbomachinery repairs and overhauls.
  • Supervise and manage in-house compressor specialists overseeing contract labor in centrifugal machinery overhauls, repairs, and inspections across LI NAM.
  • Oversee the overhaul of rotating machinery.
  • Identify training needs and develop internal resources for compressor, steam turbine maintenance, and multi-stage pumps.
  • Interpret predictive monitoring results and partner with Reliability Engineers to analyze machinery vibration data, developing corrective maintenance plans as needed.
  • Direct and oversee vendor shop repairs to ensure proper procedures and inspections are followed.
  • Manage and maintain the reciprocating compressor overhaul schedule.
  • Develop project plans and schedules for upcoming overhauls.
  • Review and update job plans in maintenance management systems, providing technical input into planning (e.g., manpower estimation, material estimates, job steps, repair techniques).
  • Document maintenance activities in the CMMS with sufficient detail to reflect machinery history.
  • Participate in RCFA’s and Vulnerability Studies.
  • Provide technical support for troubleshooting turbomachinery problems and recommend repairs.
  • Manage capital spare equipment inventory to ensure timely and quality shop repairs.
  • Ensure proper parts are in inventory or sourced for upcoming repair needs, working closely with the National warehouse for critical spares.
  • Lead or participate in compressor performance studies.
  • Provide technical guidance to LI NAM facilities regarding turbomachinery operating problems.
  • Provide input into the annual budgeting process for upcoming overhaul recommendations and cost estimates.
  • Develop and maintain work history information on all turbomachinery.
  • Develop and maintain methods for assessing equipment condition and make repair recommendations.
  • Identify methods to reduce the cost of repairs and overhauls.
  • Maintain 100% compliance with ALA Safety standards and all ALA and government regulations.
  • Document machinery repairs and overhauls, perform equipment inspections, and develop repair plans for exceptions.
  • Ensure reliability and availability of rotating machinery.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering OR a Technical qualification (mechanical) diploma plus 10 years of relevant experience.
  • 10+ years in centrifugal machinery maintenance activities.
  • Strong knowledge of vibration analysis and thorough knowledge of compression equipment operation.
  • Reliability engineering experience.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • On-call availability required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior industrial gas experience.
  • Valid employment authorization in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.
