Principle Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support for the refinery’s rotating equipment and assists with developing the reliability philosophy and direction.
  • Aids in formulating, implementing, maintaining, and auditing Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Diagnostic Maintenance (PdM) programs.
  • Maintains oversight of machinery related reliability action items.
  • Utilizes a multi-disciplinary approach for tasks involving high levels of departmental interaction, leveraging both personal experience and external resources.
  • Advocates for the business team with technical advice and condition assessments aimed at optimizing the total lifecycle costs of process machinery.
  • Conducts economic evaluations such as cost savings, profit improvements, reliability enhancements, and operational improvements for machinery.
  • Communicates progress and outcomes from assigned work to relevant stakeholders.
  • Assists in reviewing and developing machinery related engineering standards for reliability improvement.
  • Supports PHA/HAZOP reviews to mitigate process safety risks.
  • Offers recommendations and rationale to management regarding rotating equipment work identified for turnarounds.
  • Provides technical support for capital project development and installations to ensure reliability, operability, and maintainability of equipment.
  • Supports the business team with troubleshooting, safe operating practices, and fitness for service of various rotating equipment (and support systems) to enhance refinery performance.
  • Develops machinery repair plans and projects to address root cause failures, align with company/industry best practices, and improve machinery reliability/mean time between repair.
  • Oversees management of change procedures for assigned area to assess impacts on machinery.
  • Participates in root cause failure analysis and incident investigations on significant failures and recurring incidents.
  • Job Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
    • Refinery/industrial experience in machinery or rotating equipment discipline preferred.
    • Self-motivated and capable of leading machinery maintenance and shutdown work throughout the refinery.
    • Strong interpersonal leadership skills essential for effective communication and collaboration within the organization.
    • Preferred experience in vibration analysis, preventative maintenance programs, and root cause failure analysis.
    • Ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing of stairs and ladders.
    • Willingness to work in a 24/7 facility, including occasional on-call duties.
    • Physical ability to work in dusty, chemical-laden environments and wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety boots, and hearing protection).
    • Pay & Benefits

      The salary range for this position is $100,000.00 - $176,060.47. The compensation range listed in this posting is in compliance with applicable state law. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, and internal peer equity will be considered in determining the selected candidate's compensation. Salaries at the time of hire are typically in the lower to middle portion of the above range to provide opportunities for future performance-based increases. In addition to salary, PBF offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes bonus eligibility, health care, retirement benefits, and paid time off.
