About the role
CF Industries is on a mission to provide clean energy to feed and fuel the world sustainably. As the Rotating Equipment Mechanical Engineer at the Verdigris Complex, you will provide technical support for the reliability, performance, and mechanical integrity of critical rotating equipment. This role involves troubleshooting equipment issues, analyzing reliability data, supporting maintenance strategies, and collaborating with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, and Engineering teams to improve asset performance and reduce downtime. This is a safety-sensitive, onsite position reporting to the Chief Engineer, Asset Integrity & Reliability.
Responsibilities
- Provide expertise on rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, blowers, turbines, gearboxes, seals, bearings, lubrication systems, and related machinery.
- Improve reliability and performance by analyzing reliability data, tracking failure and repair metrics, identifying performance trends, and implementing improvement plans to reduce equipment downtime and maintenance costs.
- Lead troubleshooting and maintenance strategy efforts by addressing equipment issues, supporting failure analyses, reviewing condition monitoring data, and developing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
- Support repairs, turnarounds, and projects by collaborating with Maintenance, Operations, Reliability, and Engineering teams to plan and execute machinery repairs, shutdown work, equipment upgrades, replacements, and reliability improvement projects.
- Ensure documentation and compliance by maintaining accurate repair records, equipment documentation, and maintenance strategies aligned with PSM Mechanical Integrity requirements and applicable standards.
- Share best practices and provide technical support by participating in rotating equipment initiatives, recommending critical spare parts, supporting audits, assisting with selected fixed equipment tasks, and providing urgent technical support as needed.
Requirements
- Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices, risk assessment, hazard identification, and adherence to industry and site safety standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five or more years of experience in rotating equipment, reliability, maintenance, or mechanical engineering within a chemical plant, refinery, petrochemical, fertilizer, or other heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
- Experience with rotating and reciprocating machinery, failure analysis, vibration analysis, precision alignment, lubrication practices, mechanical seals, bearings, and baseplate grouting procedures.
- Familiarity with condition monitoring, preventive and predictive maintenance programs, CMMS systems, equipment criticality, and spare parts management.
- Working knowledge of applicable industrial codes, standards, and regulations, such as API, ASME, ANSI, OSHA, and state regulatory requirements.
- Experience with ammonia, urea, fertilizer, petrochemical, or similar manufacturing processes.
