Assists in monitoring the cleanliness of guest rooms and public areas as well as satisfying guests in terms of the friendliness and service of the Housekeeping staff. Ensures guest rooms and public areas of the hotel are clean and operating correctly while working within labor and budgetary guidelines.
Prerequisites
- Prior housekeeping experience in lodging, housing, hotels, hospitals, or care facilities
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must pass appropriate security clearances due to access to guestrooms and property
- Character traits of honesty and trustworthiness are essential
Responsibilities
- Assist in coordinating the activities of the Housekeeping Team, including break-out boards, assigning times, checking rooms, and entering data into systems
- Ensure associates take breaks and clock in/out on time
- Maintain key control for guests and associates; account for and secure keys at all times
- Assist with monthly inventories, proper ordering, receiving, and maintenance of supplies
- Clean vacant dirty rooms to guest-ready status and return occupied dirty rooms to clean status within specified time and accuracy constraints per brand standards
- Follow all cleaning procedures outlined in housekeeping training for every assignment
- Report any discrepancies to the Executive Housekeeper or Housekeeping Manager
- Maintain other areas of the hotel in a clean and orderly condition (e.g., associate breakroom, restrooms, public areas, stairwells, back of the house)
- Respond to guest requests and inquiries immediately
- Have a thorough knowledge of emergency procedures and understand the safety and security needs of guests and associates
- Maintain a crisp, clean, and professional appearance daily, adhering to grooming and uniform standards
- Perform other duties as assigned, provided the associate is capable
Requirements
Knowledge
- Proper procedures for handling linens, terry, and other supplies
- Sanitation of supplies, guestrooms, and public areas
- Guestroom cleaning procedures
- Safety and security measures; report or correct hazardous conditions immediately
- Assistance in supervising and managing staff techniques
- Thorough knowledge of materials, supplies, and equipment used in the housekeeping department
Skills
- Follow and manage using company procedures and policies
- Organized to maintain logs, bibles, checklists, and inventories as scheduled
- Maintain designated minutes per room
- Maintain guest privacy
- Follow cleaning procedures in a systematic fashion
- Assist with guest issues professionally while maintaining a hospitable and caring attitude

Physical Requirements
- Push or pull 60 pounds unassisted
- Lift and/or carry 30 pounds unassisted
- Stand for eight hours, bend, stretch, reach, crawl, and kneel
- See and hear effectively
- Communicate clearly with associates and guests
Working Conditions
- Physical presence at the hotel is required; not conducive to telecommuting or remote work
- Standing and walking for long periods while maintaining a friendly, professional image
- May be required to work any day/shift, including weekends
