About the Role
The Rooms Inspector assists in monitoring the cleanliness of guest rooms and public areas as well as ensuring guest satisfaction with the friendliness and service of the Housekeeping staff. This role ensures guest rooms and public areas are clean and operating correctly while adhering to labor and budgetary guidelines.
Character traits of honesty and trustworthiness are essential, and potential associates must pass appropriate security clearances.
Responsibilities
- Assist in coordinating the activities of the Housekeeping Team, including breakout boards, assigning times, checking rooms, and ensuring associates take breaks and clock in/out on time.
- Manage key control for guests and associates, ensuring keys are accounted for and secured at all times.
- Assist with monthly inventories, proper ordering, receiving, and maintenance of supplies.
- Clean vacant dirty rooms to guest-ready status and return occupied dirty rooms to clean status within specified time and accuracy constraints per brand standards.
- Follow all cleaning procedures outlined in housekeeping training and report any discrepancies to the Executive Housekeeper or Housekeeping Manager.
- Maintain other areas of the hotel in a clean and orderly condition (e.g., associate breakroom, restrooms, public areas, stairwells, and back of the house).
- Respond to guest requests and inquiries immediately.
- Understand and follow emergency procedures and safety/security needs for guests and associates.
- Maintain a crisp, clean, and professional appearance daily, adhering to grooming and uniform standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned, provided the associate is capable.
Requirements
- Prior housekeeping experience in lodging, housing, hotels, hospitals, or care facilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to push or pull 60 pounds unassisted and lift and/or carry 30 pounds unassisted.
- Ability to stand for eight hours, bend, stretch, reach, crawl, and kneel.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with guests and co-workers.
Skills & Knowledge
- Knowledge:
- Proper procedures for handling linens, terry, and other supplies.
- Sanitation of supplies, guestrooms, and public areas.
- Guestroom cleaning procedures and safety/security measures.
- Supervisory and staff management techniques.
- Materials, supplies, and equipment used in housekeeping.
- Skills:
- Follow and manage company procedures and policies.
- Maintain logs, checklists, and inventories as scheduled.
- Adhere to designated minutes per room and maintain guest privacy.
- Follow systematic cleaning procedures.
- Use computer systems such as Quore and Hotel Effectiveness for daily tasks.
- Abilities:
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Multi-task while remaining service-centric.
- Effectively communicate via messages and log books.
- Exercise discretion to maintain guest privacy.
Working Conditions
- Physical presence at the hotel is required; remote work is not an option.
- Standing and walking for long periods while maintaining a professional image.
- May be required to work any day/shift, including weekends.
