Room Service Assistant

Responsibilities

• Delivers Room Service meal trays to patients with speed and accuracy.
• Greet patients/guests with a smile and create goodwill for the department.
• Follow tray delivery script and proper hand hygiene protocol.
• Verify 2 patient identifiers before delivering meal tray.
• Assist with meal set-up as needed, including moving bedside table.
• Confirm accuracy of meal order and provide excellent customer service.
• Report patient complaints/concerns to a FANS Manager.
• Notify nursing unit of prepared trays for insulin patients.
• Deliver guest trays to appropriate patient rooms.
• Collect cash payment for guest trays and return promptly if change is needed.
• Confirm accuracy of meal order and provide excellent customer service.
• Returns soiled tray carts to dishroom for cleaning and sanitation.
• Maintain clean and sanitary conditions in food service areas.
• Handle food properly during service.
• Follow HACCP principles and comply with hospital and Health Department standards.
• Complete and document daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning assignments.
• Report safety concerns to a FANS Manager.
• Attend meetings to enhance knowledge, job skills, and communication within the department.
• Follow acceptable practices related to safety, sanitation, infection control, quality control, and customer relations.
• Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned or needed.
• May assist in other areas as relief.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: 2 years of related work experience, with health care experience preferred.
• Skills: Related food service knowledge and skills, customer service skills, basic reading, writing, and math skills.
