Room Attendant - Housekeeping

About the role

The Room Attendant is expected to provide excellent customer service to all guests, offering Ultimate Service with a smile and promoting the brand standards of uncompromised service with a focus on guest satisfaction. This position is responsible for the overall guest experience with regard to the cleanliness of the hotel, including guest rooms and common areas.

Responsibilities

• Complete all brand-required training and all required Safety & Health training
• Maintain cleanliness of all spaces within the hotel, including:
• Guest rooms
• Hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and locker rooms
• Other work areas as instructed
• Make beds in guest rooms
• Replenish supplies such as drinking glasses, writing supplies, and bathroom supplies in guest rooms
• Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies using a vacuum cleaner
• Dust furniture and equipment
• Polish metalwork, such as fixtures and fittings
• Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, door panels, and sills
• Empty wastebaskets and ashtrays; clean ashtrays
• Transport trash and waste to disposal area
• Replace light bulbs
• Abide by the recommended safe handling instructions on Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) when using chemicals
• Perform any job-related duties as requested by supervisor

Necessary Skills

• Ability to effectively communicate with staff and guests of varied cultural and ethnic backgrounds
• Ability to carry out specific oral or written instructions (frequently following a repetitive structured routine)
• Willingness and ability to adapt as necessary to meet business demands
• Focus on guest satisfaction and project this desire through positive interaction with guests while striving to provide an excellent experience for all guests, both internal and external
• Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and climb stairs
• Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to use a ladder and step stool
• Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and 25 pounds periodically
• Must be able to pull up to 25 pounds occasionally
• Must have visual acuity to distinguish between objects both near and far (with or without corrective lenses)
