Room Attendant
About the role
Cape Arundel Inn & Resort in Kennebunkport is seeking a part-time or full-time Room Attendant to join our team. This is a foundational, entry-level role where training will be provided. Previous cleaning/housekeeping experience preferred, but not required. We support work-life balance. This role requires availability to work days midweek and weekends regularly. We will do our best to accommodate schedule restrictions, please share your preferences upon interview.
Responsibilities
- Reports to work as scheduled, in proper uniform, in accordance with KRC Standards
- Cleans and sanitizes all assigned rooms and bathrooms
- Follows the designated sequence of room assignments
- Replaces all amenities and linens
- Keeps cart and linen closets clean and orderly
- Cleans assigned rooms within shift time requirements, passing all inspections
- Assists in the preparation and deep cleaning of VIP rooms
- Cleans spots on walls and carpets
- Refills cleaning bottles with chemicals according to the department's chemical protocol
- Reports/Replaces burned-out light bulbs
- Reports irregularities such as smoking, pets, suspicious persons and behavior, unusual items, and activities to the Manager
- Adheres to OSHA regulations policies and procedures regarding emergencies, safe work practices, and wearing of protective gear as necessary
- Adheres to OSHA regulations cleaning policies and procedures to ensure the professional appearance of all hotel areas
- Thorough knowledge of proper cleaning methods for various surfaces
- Adheres to established cleaning schedules and methods to extend the life of the carpet and the professional appearance of the hotel
- Performs all duties in a timely and professional manner
- Performs a visual inspection before leaving any areas
- Follows procedures for issuance and return of room keys, prioritizing of rooms, record-keeping, and status updates
- Demonstrates working knowledge and team effort in accomplishing additional projects as assigned
- Observes guidelines for using and maintaining all pertinent equipment
- Fulfills special projects and other duties, including laundry and turndown as assigned by the Manager
Guest Service Duties
- Applies excellent guest relations skills when interacting with guests
- Anticipates guest needs, demonstrating sensitivity and responsiveness, ensuring complete guest satisfaction and repeat business
- Familiar/knowledgeable about the hotel and able to explain the locations and operating hours of hotel facilities
- Satisfies guest requests for information and services
- Demonstrates a friendly attitude to co-workers and all other hotel staff
- Treats guests and other employees with courtesy and respect
- Gives recognition to repeat guests
- Handles all guest complaints according to KRC standards, notifies Supervisor/Manager immediately
- Observes hotel telephone etiquette, message, and call-handling procedures
General Promotions
- Promotes and applies teamwork skills at all times
- Notifies appropriate individuals promptly and fully of problems and/or unusual matters of significance
- Treats guests and other employees with courtesy and respect
- Executes emergency procedures in accordance with KRC standards
- Complies with required safety regulations and procedures
- Maintains cleanliness and excellent condition of equipment and work area
- Complies with KRC hotel standards, policies and rules
- Complies with KRC uniform and grooming standards
Qualifications & Requirements
- Remain on feet for full shift
- Lift up to 50 lbs
- Walk the property and grounds regularly
- Move up and down stairs repeatedly throughout entirety of shift
- Bend frequently and repetitively during a shift
- Ability to stretch arms widely and stretch legs over and around items such as beds, toilets, under desks, etc.
- Work on knees on occasion
- Squat and kneel for extended periods
- Push laundry carts frequently
- Visually survey work areas
- Use repetitive manual dexterity
- Move quickly based on guest needs
- Communicate and exchange information effectively with the ability to read, write, understand, and speak English
