Roofing Field Operations Manager

About the role

Report to our Superintendent and lead the safe, productive work of multiple roofing crews. This is a field-first management role for either (1) a current Foreman ready to step up to managing foremen and crews, or (2) a Roofing Manager already leading foremen who wants to join a high-performing team.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and schedule crews/foremen; run daily huddles and weekly look-aheads.
• Track production closely; forecast labor surplus/shortfall and rebalance manpower.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain high-quality crew members; build bench strength.
• Drive safety (Cal/OSHA), QA/QC, and spec compliance on every job.
• Perform roof inspections for new business and document findings (photos/reports).
• Meet vendor/manufacturer reps on site to inspect work for warranty certifications.
• Own crew logistics: materials/equipment issues, training questions, and field problem-solving.
• Support small change-order scoping; close punch lists and warranty items.

Requirements

• 5+ years roofing experience, including 2+ years as a Foreman (commercial or multi-family).
• Expert working knowledge of torch/modified bitumen, shingles, single-ply, TPO, and other commercial systems; flashing & waterproofing fundamentals.
• People-first leader who enjoys managing, coaching, and holding standards.
• Reads plans/specs; rock-solid safety mindset.
• CA driver’s license & reliable transportation.
• Comfortable with phone/tablet apps for time, photos, and reports; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
