Roofer-Carpenter Aide

Responsibilities
- Assisting carpenters with framing, drywall, cabinetry, doors, windows, and finish carpentry.
- Measuring, cutting, and preparing materials under the direction of a carpenter.
- Loading, unloading, and transporting tools, equipment, and building materials.
- Holding materials in place and helping with installations.
- Removing debris and disposing of construction waste.
- Setting up ladders, scaffolding, and work areas.
- Performing basic repairs and routine maintenance tasks.
- Operating and maintaining hand tools and power tools safely.
- Complying with all safety regulations and procedures and wearing required protective equipment (PPE).
- Cleaning and organizing job sites and maintaining a safe and secure work environment.
- Properly expediting specified repair work assigned by the supervisor.
- Assisting in inspecting and maintaining all facility roofs.
- Working closely with all shop personnel and other Facilities Management staff.
- Conducting oneself in a manner that is courteous, cooperative, and attentive, and maintaining effective professional relationships.
- Responding to trouble calls, emergency conditions, and analyzing routine work requests for timely execution and completion.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent with at least 1 year of related work experience.
- Basic carpentry skills.
- Basic mechanical skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated knowledge of general power tools.
- Valid California driver’s license throughout the course of employment.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs on a consistent basis.
Qualifications
