Roll Shop Lead
About the role
The Roll Shop Lead plays a key role in ensuring the safety, quality, and production performance of the Rolling Mill process. This position is responsible for coordinating and executing all aspects of procuring, scheduling, and maintaining Roll Shop equipment—with safety as the highest priority. The Roll Shop Lead will oversee the daily operations of the Roll Shop, while fostering the growth and development of their direct team. Success in this role requires continuous learning and cross-training within the Rolling Mill and other departments, supporting both day-to-day operations and the overall success of the division. Building strong relationships with mill, maintenance, and sales teams is critical, as is taking a collaborative approach to leadership, team development, and process improvement in alignment with Nucor Steel Marion’s goals.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and execute all aspects of procuring, scheduling, and maintaining Roll Shop equipment.
- Oversee the daily operations of the Roll Shop.
- Foster the growth and development of the direct team.
- Support continuous learning and cross-training within the Rolling Mill and other departments.
- Build strong relationships with mill, maintenance, and sales teams.
- Collaborate on leadership, team development, and process improvement aligned with Nucor Steel Marion’s goals.
Requirements
- 2-years of leadership experience in industrial maintenance or adjacent field
- Experience performing and tracking preventative maintenance of equipment
- Working knowledge of industrial equipment, its usage, and safety procedures
- Experience with process scheduling in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with CAD and CAM software
Qualifications
- Experience with steel rolling mill process, equipment, and technology
- Experience with CNC turning, milling, and notching operations
- Knowledge of operational systems and maintenance best practices
Skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficient in safety protocols and practices
