About the role
The Automation Technician will play a crucial role in maintaining, troubleshooting, upgrading, and optimizing our automated systems. The Automation Technician will provide technical expertise, promote Safety, Quality, Cost, & Reliability that support World Class Operations and demonstrate leadership through the maintenance strategy.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, troubleshoot, upgrade, and optimize automated systems
- Provide technical expertise in automation and controls
- Promote Safety, Quality, Cost, & Reliability to support World Class Operations
- Demonstrate leadership through maintenance strategy
Requirements
- Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and scheduled and unscheduled overtime
- Two-year college degree or other education, training, and certifications
- Demonstrable experience with PLC Programming, HMIs, Wonderware and/or FTVIEW, scaling instrumentation, PID loops
- 5 years automation and controls experience
- Must be willing/able to meet the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
- Four-year college degree or other education, training, and certifications
- Control Logix experience
- AB & ABB Drive Experience
- Familiarity with NFPA 70E-Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace
